It might be difficult to divide a restaurant bill or divide the expenditure of a group trip. All Facebook Messenger mobile app users will now be able to use Meta’s Split Payments function, which aims to make things simpler. The function that was formerly in beta is expected to be ideal for situations where you need to split a bill with 2 or more individuals. Consider splitting the price of a new oven with your 3 housemates, the price of a new Xmas present for Mom with your siblings, or even this weekend’s Super Bowl bash with your family members.

If you or your pals are beginning to utilize Facebook Payments in Messenger mobile app, the functionality will prompt you to provide payment information (either a debit or credit card or PayPal).

This is how it functions. Firstly, create a group conversation on Facebook’s SMS Service for all of the payers. Next, simply hit the plus symbol at the end of the page or select the group’s name and afterward select “Split Payments.” You’ll see a popup that says “Get Started.”

You may then choose whether you wish to divide payments with everyone else in the group or exclude specific persons (including yourself). After that, you’ll be prompted to input the entire amount of the bill or payment. The functionality then divides the expense evenly across the number of individuals you specify. If one or more people owe somewhat more, you may input a different amount manually.

Meta’s addition of a bill-splitting feature is undoubtedly another opportunity for the company to compete with other payment apps. However, considering that many individuals currently use Messenger to coordinate group activities or relay information inside a group, a messaging App may have an edge in this regard. Split Payments is now accessible for iOS and Android smartphones in the United States.
